At Planet Botanix, we carry five of the eucalyptus varieties. Did you know that there are actually hundreds of different types of this useful plant?! Eucalyptus in general is known to heal, clarify, purify and soothe, due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmotic (helps with coughs) and stimulating properties.

Eucalyptus globulus (aka Blue Gum) is by far the most well known. It is the scent used by spas for help clear the lungs and bring focus and clarity. It can also help in a massage for aches and pains.

Eucalyptus radiata (black peppermint) has a gentler, more subtle scent.

Eucalyptus citriodora (lemon-scented) is a boon to bug sprays and, as expected, has a lemony eucalyptus scent. It is said to be great for treating athlete’s foot, and as a remedy for shingles. It can assist with cold sores.

Eucalyptus polybractea (Blue Mallee) is a powerful member of this family. It has great antiseptic properties.

Eucalyptus Dives (peppermint eucalyptus) works like globulus, but with a hint of sparkling peppermint added!

So how do you use these amazing plant materials? You can diffuse them to clear sinuses or bronchial congestion. You can use them in your bath (diluted) for the same purpose, and to bring the spa experience home. You can add them to a salve to help relieve chest congestion or muscle soreness-the possibilities are endless! Come visit us to experience the scents of eucalypi and dozens more essential oils!
