Taking the time to Pause

What I have come to understand over the years is that one cannot run flat out all the time, regardless of how excited you are in achieving your goals.  I have seen many people burn themselves out as they relentlessly forge ahead towards their goal.  I do admire their strong determination and over the long haul, this is a desirable character attribute to have.

However, as I’m writing this article, I’m currently enjoying a period of “Pause”.  I now routinely schedule some down time to give me a chance to regroup and assess what corrective measures I must take to achieve my goals.  The “auto pilot” on an airplane will do this a million times a minute to keep itself on course while in flight.   But we humans need to remind ourselves to take the time to do this.

During this period of pause, take the time to reflect, to contemplate and to assess what your goals are, if your vision is still applicable and determine what else needs to be done.  Keep your eyes on the target but do acknowledge your progress and celebrate your success.  You will gain some new vitality and also strengthen your enthusiasm at the same time.
